Andrew Symonds was an Australian international cricketer who played all three formats as a batting all-rounder. He was born on June 9, 1975, in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Symonds was a key member of two World Cup-winning teams. Symonds batted in the middle order for the right-handed team. He bowled medium space and off-spin alternately.

Symonds was suspended from the team after mid-2008 for disciplinary reasons, which included alcohol. Symonds was expelled from the 2009 World Twenty20 at the end of his participation, his third suspension, expulsion, or removal from the selection in a year.

At the age of 46, Symonds died in a single-vehicle car accident in Townsville, Queensland, on Saturday, May 14, 2022.

Symonds was driving on Hervey Range Road near the Alice River Bridge when his car left the road and rolled around 10:30 p.m. local time, according to Queensland Police.

The car was empty except for Symonds. Symonds was pronounced dead at the spot after paramedics attempted to revive him.
